Statistics Jersey has published the December 2024 Labour Market Report, showing total employment of 64,790 jobs – the highest December figure to date.

Employment rose by 530 jobs (0.8%) over the year, driven by a 4.6% rise in public sector jobs (+430), mainly in the departments of Health and Care Jersey (HCJ) and Children, Young People Education and Skills (CYPES). Private sector employment was broadly stable, up by 100 jobs (0.2%), with gains in finance, education, transport, and agriculture offset by losses in construction, hospitality, retail, and IT.

Over the past five years, total jobs have grown by 5.6%, with public sector employment rising by 21.5%.
