Statistics Jersey has today published the Jersey Better Life Index 2025.

The Better Life Index provides an international comparison of well‑being across 11 dimensions, using the framework developed by the Organisation for Economic Co‑operation and Development (OECD).

Key findings

  • Jersey’s overall Better Life Index score remained unchanged at 6.4 out of 10, ranking the Island 28th of 41 nations.
  • Jersey’s overall score was unchanged, but the Island fell two places in the global ranking due to improvements in other countries, notably Poland and Lithuania. Several individual dimensions also saw shifts in ranking driven mainly by changes elsewhere rather than changes in Jersey’s own indicators.
  • The Island ranked below the OECD average, and slightly below both the UK and France.
  • Jersey placed in the top 10 for community, personal safety and health.
  • Jersey ranked 41st (last) for civic engagement, reflecting low voter turnout in the 2022 elections.
  • At a regional level, Jersey achieved an overall well‑being score of 7.1, ranking 141st out of 469 OECD regions – seven places higher than in 2023.
  • Jersey ranked joint 1st of all 463 regions for the safety dimension.
