In December 2024, the total number of jobs in the economy was 530 higher than in December 2023, representing an annual increase of 0.8%. Note that the number of jobs is generally higher in June than December due to seasonal jobs.

Over the last 10 years, the number of full-time jobs has increased, whereas the number of part-time jobs has decreased.
Jobs by employment status
Over the last 10 years, the number of Entitled status jobs have increased to a total of 55,610 in December 2024, while the number of Registered status jobs have remained around 5,000-6,000 throughout the most recent 10 year period.
Jobs by residential status
Registered jobs make up 36% of jobs in hotels, restaurants and bars and 33% of jobs in the agriculture and fishing industry.

Experimental statistics are statistics produced by Statistics Jersey that are in the testing phase and not yet fully developed. Users should be aware that experimental statistics will potentially have a wider degree of uncertainty. In June 2023, the largest annual increases in employment were seen for those of British / Jersey (up by 380), Kenyan (up by 270) and Filipino (up by 220) nationalities. The largest annual decreases in employment were seen for those of Portuguese / Madeiran nationality (down by 140) and Polish nationality (down by 70). Other annual decreases were all 20 or fewer.

Data sources and methods
Jersey’s labour market report is published every 6 months and covers key aspects of jobs in the workforce for both public and private sectors. The data source for this report are manpower returns. Every business or organisation in Jersey that holds a business licence is legally required to submit manpower returns. Manpower returns are administered by the Business Hub, part of the Employment, Social Security and Housing department.
Jersey’s employment statistics report covers both employment and workforce jobs, and includes statistics by demographics such as age, sex, nationality, and contract type. This report is experimental; the full details of this can be found in the methodology summary and notes in appendix A of the report. The data source for this report is the combined employer return (CER), which comprises monthly data on:
Every employer in Jersey is legally required to submit CER. CER submissions are administered by Revenue Jersey in the Treasury and Exchequer department and the Business Hub in Employment, Social Security and Housing.
Note that the labour market and employment statistics reports count jobs using different methodologies, which result in slightly different job counts. The employment statistics report uses a wider definition of the public sector. Details of the differences can be found in appendices B and C of the employment statistics report.
