Jersey’s population increased by 5,400 in the ten years between the 2011 census and the 2021 census.

Population density

Jersey had a population density of 859 people per km². This varied by parish: 

  • St Helier was the most densely populated, with 3,716 residents per km² 
  • Trinity had the lowest population density, with 267 residents per km²

Parish populations

St Helier was Jersey’s most populated parish, accounting for over a third (35%) of Jersey’s population, followed by St Saviour (13%) and St Brelade (11%). The smallest parish in terms of population size was St Mary. 

The greatest percentage changes in population between 2011 and 2021 were seen for Grouville (11%), St Clement (8%) and St Helier (7%).
