Statistics Jersey has today published its latest Jersey’s Economy 2025: GVA and GDP report, providing a comprehensive picture of the Island’s economic performance in 2025.
The report shows that Jersey’s economy, as measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), decreased by 1.7% in real terms compared with 2024. GDP was estimated at £7.0 billion in 2025.
Despite the decline over the latest year, the Island’s economy remains 11.9% above its pre-pandemic level and has grown by an average of 1.6% per year over the last decade.
The fall in GDP was driven primarily by lower profits in the Financial and insurance sector, particularly within banking. Excluding this sector, the rest of Jersey’s economy recorded modest real-term growth of 0.2%.
GDP per person decreased by 2.0% in real terms to £66,600, while labour productivity, measured as Gross Value Added (GVA) per full-time equivalent worker, fell by 2.5%. As with GDP, the reduction in productivity was largely attributable to lower profits in the Financial and insurance sector. Excluding that sector, productivity across the remainder of the economy was broadly unchanged, decreasing by just 0.1%.
This report also highlights the differing performance of Jersey’s industry sectors during 2025, with lower profitability in parts of the finance industry offsetting more stable performance across much of the rest of the economy.
