Statistics Jersey has today published the latest Retail Prices Index (RPI) report, showing that the annual rate of inflation in Jersey was 3.0% in September 2026.

The annual rate of inflation increased by 0.2 percentage points from the previous quarter, when it stood at 2.8% in June 2026.

The latest figures show that several groups contributed to the annual rate of inflation, most notably household services, alcoholic drinks and food.

There were also substantial annual increases in the prices of some fuels. Heating oil and other fuels increased by 47.7% over the year, while petrol and oil increased by 22.7%. Food prices increased by 3.5% over the year and housing costs increased by 0.2%.

This quarter, Jersey’s headline inflation rate was 0.6 percentage points lower than the UK’s CPIH measure of inflation, which stood at 3.6%.

In addition to the headline RPI measure, other measures of inflation showed:

  • RPI(Y) increased by 3.5%
  • RPI(X) increased by 3.6%
  • RPI Pensioners increased by 4.3%
  • RPI Low Income increased by 3.6%

The report also highlights that global energy markets remained affected by geopolitical developments in the Middle East during the September 2026 price collection period. These developments contributed to movements in the prices of products such as heating oil and petrol that are reflected in this quarter’s results.

Users should note that further increases in fuel prices, particularly diesel, have been observed since the end of the collection period. As these changes occurred after prices were collected, they are not reflected in the figures published in this report.

The September 2026 Retail Prices Index report is the first to be published in Statistics Jersey’s new web-based format, making it easier to access, navigate and use the information online.
